Bethlehem Dining Out

Tapas on Main

Tapas on Main is located directly in downtown Bethlehem, which is a beautiful little area. You can find plenty of shops and places to eat in this area, so I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the Lehigh Valley. Luckily, it was a perfect evening so we got to enjoy outdoor seating.

I have to start by highlighting the drink I ordered, the “Honey Heat”. It tasted like a margarita, but sweeter due to the honey. Another thing to note is that this drink DEFINITELY brought the heat. The house infused jalapeño tequila had a kick that I loved. I thought this balanced the sweetness perfectly, and I highly recommend ordering the Honey Heat.

After drinks, we decided to grab a bunch of “Tapas” (small savory dishes or appetizers) for the table. We stuck with fried food for both, and both didn’t disappoint. Both the fries and the calamari were crispy and delicious, as well as the dipping sauce that came with each. At this point, I was feeling great about the meal.

Instead of continuing on with more Tapas, I decided to go for a main. I ordered the Paella Surf and Turf. I am a huge fan of surf and turf, because who doesn’t love meat and seafood. I also cant recall ever ordering a paella before, so its safe to say I was dying to try this. I’ll start by saying the serving size was massive. There was tons of seafood and meat throughout. You definitely get what you pay for. The steak, chorizo, and saffron rice were excellent. However, I thought the seafood could have tasted a little more fresh. I also was not a huge fan of the sundried tomato chimichurri. I personally thoughit that that this tasted like raw tomato paste. I may be way off on that, but thats what it tasted like to me. Overall, I’d say I had a good first experience with paella, and I definitely want to try it again in the future.

Some other highlights of the evening were the Empanadas de Pollo and the Chicken Flatbread. If you do decide to go here, ordering a ton of tapas and drinks is the way to go. Also, don’t forget to try the house sangria! It is a rotating summer menu that is refreshing and a perfect complement to many of these dishes.
